Introduction
When I need a super quick, slightly healthier Halloween treat, these Ghost Strawberries are my absolute go-to. Dipping fresh, juicy strawberries in white chocolate is already delicious, but adding tiny chocolate chip faces transforms them into adorable little ghosts. They look so cute on a platter and disappear in minutes!
Why You’ll Love This Recipe
- Incredibly Simple: Only 3 ingredients and minimal effort.
- Adorable & Festive: These little ghosts are almost too cute to eat.
- A Healthier Option: Uses fresh fruit as the base.
- No Baking Required: Just melting and dipping.
- Quick to Make: Perfect for a last-minute party contribution.
Ingredients
- 1 pound fresh strawberries, washed and thoroughly dried
- 1 (12 oz) bag white chocolate chips or white candy melts
- Mini chocolate chips
- Parchment paper
Instructions
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Make sure your strawberries are completely dry; water will cause the chocolate to seize.
- Place the white chocolate chips or candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring after each, until fully melted and smooth. (Alternatively, melt over a double boiler).
- Hold a strawberry by its green stem/leaves. Dip the strawberry into the melted white chocolate, leaving the very top near the stem uncovered. Let any excess chocolate drip off.
- Place the dipped strawberry onto the parchment-lined baking sheet.
- While the white chocolate is still wet, immediately place two mini chocolate chips onto the strawberry for the “eyes” and one mini chocolate chip (sometimes placed sideways or upside down) for a spooky “mouth.”
- Repeat with all the strawberries.
- Let the strawberries sit at room temperature or place the baking sheet in the refrigerator for 10-15 minutes until the white chocolate is completely set.
- Serve chilled or at room temperature.
Tips
For Banana Ghosts, use the same process but with bananas cut in half crosswise. Stand them upright on the parchment paper after dipping and add the mini chocolate chip faces. Make sure the white chocolate isn’t too hot when dipping, or it might slide off the strawberries too easily.
